Why be part of the ABVTEX PROGRAM?

Why be part of the ABVTEX PROGRAM?

Compliance and corporate governance rules should be a part of day-to-day life in any company. In the fashion retail sector this is already a reality and throughout the value chain retailers need to be in line with best practice.

To add ethical value throughout the value chain, ABVTEX, together with member retailers, created the ABVTEX Program in 2010. All clothing maker and subcontractors that supply or wish to supply ABVTEX member retailers and signatories to the Program must undergo, and pass, mandatory auditing. See the regulation.

For retail networks that are signatories, some of the advantages of signing up for the Program are:

  • Associating the brand with ethics, human rights protection, against slave-like and child labor and being part of an innovative initiative that is recognized in Brazil;
  • It heads initiatives aimed at eliminating precarious labor, tackling unfair competition;
  • Monitoring the supply chain through audits conducted by qualified certifying bodies;
  • Access to the online platform for supply chain management;
  • Mitigating the risk of suppliers using slave-like or child labor or using illegal immigrants;
  • Participate in discussion forums with companies from the same sector, exchange good practice and strengthen actions against slave-like and child labor in the fashion chain.

For suppliers and their subcontractors of the textile and clothing chain, the benefits of joining the ABVTEX Program are:

  • Qualification to provide clothing, footwear and accessories, as well as soft furnishings to signatory retail networks;
  • Mitigating risks of labor liabilities;
  • Improvement in the workplace and reducing accidents, achieving greater staff retention and improving their level of satisfaction;
  • Significant and essential improvements in business sustainability;
  • Opening up the market thanks to obtaining the ABVTEX seal, widely recognized as an accreditation of best practice;
  • Fair competition, as all audited suppliers and subcontractors have the same conditions to supply retailers;
  • Be part of a great sectorial initiative.
