Institutional Actions

ABVTEX has undertaken a series of institutional activities, contact with opinion formers and authorities, partnerships with bodies and agencies for the development of fashion retail and the supply chain.

Public Private Partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO), Abit Brazilian Textile and Tailoring Industry Association (Abit), C&A Institute, Renner Stores Institute and Zara Brasil: the Program “Promoting improvements in working conditions and management of sewing workshops in São Paulo” aims to promote decent working conditions in the textile and clothing sector in São Paulo.

SENAI CETIQT-RJ promoting the development of suppliers from Rio de Janeiro together with the ‘Brasil Mais Produtivo’ (More Productive Brazil) Federal Government Program.

Abicalçados (Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries) which joined the ABVTEX Program Consultative Committee, strengthening actions for responsible supply in the footwear area.

Abit (Brazilian Textile and Tailoring Industry Association) for dialogue on topics of common interest in the textile sector; defining a development agenda for the sector and improving the relationship between retailers and the supply chain.

Entrepreneurial Alliance from the Tecendo Sonhos (Weaving Dreams) Program, which aims to train immigrant entrepreneurs in management skills to open/formalize sewing workshops. The action aims to support social responsibility in the production chain in São Paulo.

ÁPICE (Sports Industry and Commerce Association), representing the main sports brands in Brazil. Discussion of common agenda topics such as tackling pirated goods and slave-like labor.

Ethos Institute and Uniethos for the Valor em Cadeia (Value in Chain) Program aiming to improve business performance, staff wellbeing, and environmental management in small and medium-sized clothing businesses.

Assintecal (Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Artefact Component Companies) for discussing topics of common interest related to development in the footwear and accessory industry.

State Board for Combatting Piracy (CECOP-SC), of the Santa Catarina State Office of Sustainable Economic Development, which deals with activities for tackling piracy, tax avoidance, and intellectual property crimes.

CICB (Center of Brazilian Industries and Tanneries) encouraging the valorization of the leather sector. Guides retailers with regards the rules for commercializing leather products (footwear, bags, and accessories).

Gouvêa de Souza (GS&MD) for institutional support of the Latam Retail Show.

Grupo Padrão for the institutional support of BRWeek.

InPACTO (National Institute for the Eradication of Slave Labor) to amplify the dialogue on the realities of the fashion supply chain and evaluate ways of regulating and strengthening instruments for combatting slave-like labor, aiming to engage the business sector to improve existing mechanisms.

PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo) for curating and developed a specialization course in Innovative Leadership for Sustainable Development. The university extension course focuses on the challenges of the sector including a table of the main issues in sustainability, supply chain management and conscientious consumerism.

SINTEX (Union of Spinning, Weaving, and Clothing Industries, Blumenau), which covers 18 municipalities in the Vale do Itajaí area of Santa Caterina State, for the exchange of information about the ABVTEX Program.
